Economic Intern
Position Overview: The Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF)—the world’s leading technology and economic policy think tank—is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Economics Intern with a focus on data collection and analysis. This internship will provide valuable hands-on experience in economic research, data collection, and data analysis while working closely with our team to support ongoing projects and initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in economics, excellent analytical skills, and an eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the collection, organization, and management of economic data from a variety of sources, including government reports, industry publications, and databases.
- Analyze economic trends and indicators, such as GDP, inflation rates, unemployment figures, and other economic factors.
- Support the creation of visualizations, charts, and reports to present findings
- Conduct preliminary research and literature reviews to support economic reports and policy briefs.
- Collaborate with the team on ad-hoc data requests and assist with data-driven projects.
- Monitor and track changes in key economic indicators
- Draft blogs on a range of economic topics
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s (or Master’s) program in Economics, Political Science, Public Policy, Data Science, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of economic principles and concepts.
- Experienced in accessing and using open-source data platforms.
- Familiarity with U.S. government and international economics datasets/databases.
- Proficient in data analysis software/tools such as Excel or similar programs.
- Familiarity with economic databases and statistical software is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to synthesize complex data and present it clearly.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
