Charlotte Center City Partners (CCCP) is seeking a Senior Accountant to provide accounting expertise and leadership to support our organization through all aspects of the Accounting and Finance operations. This senior level position will work with the Controller and Accountant to complete our accounting operations and team.
Charlotte Center City Partners is a 501(c)4 nonprofit corporation. In addition to supporting CCCP, the accounting team provides full services for 2 additional 501(c)3 related entities. CCCP Community Trust (CCCPCT) has multiple programs including the Small Business Innovation Fund, Music Everywhere, McColl Park, as well as major events. The Charlotte City Market DBA The Market at 7th Street is an Uptown food hall and small business incubator.
Responsibilities:
This role will report to the Controller. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Accounting practice
• Responsible for reviewing and maintaining our general ledger system.
• Work with the Accountant on all aspects of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and credit card entries. There are three sets of individual books to be maintained.
• Record all necessary journal entries in month end and year end close.
• Track the “Due to/Due from” between the companies.
• Work on the annual financial audit by providing material, as directed by the Controller, to the independent audit company for the combined and consolidated financial audit for CCCP and CCCPCT.
• Oversee the preparation and timely filing of the IRS Form 990’s and other required governmental filings.
• Responsible for all aspects of Business insurance, including renewals and audits. Working with the controller and the COO.
Budgeting
• Assist the Controller with preparing annual budgets and board presentations for the three separate companies.
• Track budgets on a monthly basis including providing reports to non-financial management.
• Grant management and tracking as needed.
Miscellaneous
• Assist the Controller with some payroll duties and related human resource duties.
• Develop and provide consistent messaging to the entire organization to drive cooperation and to meet deadlines in the bill paying, credit card reports and vacation time submission so accounting can handle work in a timely and needed manner.
• Build a network of collaboration, support and positive relationships with staff and management.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent.
• CPA license (either already achieved or working towards) a plus, but not required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a general accounting position. Non-profit experience a plus, but not a requirement.
• Must have a good working knowledge of QuickBooks and all aspects of general ledger accounting.
• Strong computer skills with a proficiency in Office 365 (Excel, Word, Teams, etc.) and Adobe products.
• Strong financial skillset with P&L and budget management experience.
• Curiosity and leadership on the development of new best practices, tools, and resources.
• Self-starter who is an independent thinker, capable of managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines within a cross-functional team environment.
• Excellent listening skills, including verbal and non-verbal communication, problem-solving and decision-making.
• Highly effective organizational skills, time management, responsibility, leadership, and motivation.
• Ability to work outside of standard hours at times of the year when the workload requires it, such as audit or budget times.
• Ability to work with C-level executives.
