Primary Purpose:
Manages data flow between applications in support of business processes.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Research and develop solutions to business challenges through the application of data management and integration practices.
- Create and manage custom reporting, workflow and data management applications.
- Prepare and eventually automate cyclical reporting processes including, but not limited to, quarterly and annual regulatory filings, commissions, production reports, etc.
- Study data sources by interviewing users; defining, analyzing, and validating data objects; identifying the relationship among data objects.
- Plan data integration processes by developing common definitions of sourced data; designing common keys in physical data structures; establish data integration specifications; examine data applications; examine data models and data warehouse schema; determine best-fit data interchange methods; assess middleware tools for data integration, transformation, and routing; develop project scope and specifications; identify factors that negatively impact integration; forecast resource requirements; establish delivery timetables.
- Deliver data integration by implementing shared databases; integrate data shared across legacy, new development, and purchased package environments; develop system modification specifications; map data; establish interfaces; develop and modify functions, programs, routines, and stored procedures to export, transform, and load data; meeting performance parameters; resolve and escalate integration issues; coordinate actions among users, operations staff, and outside vendors; recommend adjustments as objectives change; document operational procedures and data connections.
- Validate data integration by developing and executing test plans and scenarios including data design, tool design, data extract/transform, networks, and hardware.
- Maintain data warehouse performance by identifying and resolving data conflicts, upgrading data definitions.
- Improve data integration by designing and evaluating new data interchange formats; improve physical design; rewrite data policy, standards, and procedures.
- Update job knowledge by tracking ETL strategies and technologies; participate in educational opportunities; read professional publications; maintain personal networks; participate in professional organizations.
- Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Enhance data integration team accomplishments and competence by planning delivery of solutions; answer technical and procedural questions for less experienced team members; teach improved processes; mentor team members.
- Maintain team accomplishments by communicating essential information; coordinate actions; obtain expert input; review open issues and action items; contribute information to team meetings and reports; transfer knowledge of data integration process, techniques, and issues to application and support teams.
- Adheres to applicable federal laws, rules, and regulations including those related to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Skills & Competencies:
- 7+ years working in a related role.
- Strong experience in MS SQL Server, database tuning, and ETL processes.
- Strong programming and analytical skills.
- Mortgage industry experience.
- Ability to work independently and in groups.
Desired Skills & Competencies:
- Bachelors and/or Masters degree in a related field.
Physical Requirements:
- Express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word via email and verbally.
- Exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, use your arms and legs, and sit most of the time.
- Have close visual acuity to perform activities such as analyzing data, viewing a computer terminal, reading, and preparing documentation.
- Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
