Classification: Exempt/Full-time

 

 

Summary/Objective:
The Houston Astros are currently seeking a Coordinator, International Scouting for the 2025 season to support the department’s day-to-day functions. This position will be based in Houston, TX or West Palm Beach, FL.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with administrative responsibilities necessary for the department’s day-to-day operation, such as contract generation, travel coordination, player registration, purchase order payment, etc.
  • Aid in the process of collecting, organizing, and analyzing player video and data to streamline evaluation across player market.
  • Evaluate players, via in-person and video/data looks, as assigned.
  • Serve as important link between field staff and front office, to ensure staff have tools they need to succeed.
  • Contribute to historical research studies on international market.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Education and/or Experience & Skills:

  • English fluency required.
  • Spanish proficiency required, with fluency preferred.
  • Strong baseball knowledge and foundation for evaluation abilities required, with understanding/experience in international market preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Experience with coding languages (R, Shiny, SQL) preferred.
  • Scouting experience preferred, with multi-market experience a plus.
  • Professional playing experience a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals, including scouts, players, trainers, and front office members.
  • Demonstrated passion for baseball and intellectual curiosity.

 

Work Environment

The work will largely be performed at a sports venue (indoor or outdoor- hot/cold environment) that could be heavily crowded with high activity.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand for long periods of time, walk long distances and/or climb up/down stairs; may be required to stoop, kneel, crouch, sit and/or move/lift up to 50lbs of equipment or supplies; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and focused vision.

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position that will require a flexible schedule, including ability to work extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

 

Travel

Both international and domestic travel will be expected for this position on occasion.
