The Job The Information Technology Intern will directly assist with inputting of information in our Asset Management system and assisting the IT Department in responding to IT related trouble tickets as well as IT related projects. Interns typically report to an assigned supervisor and/or mentor and receive both technical job training and guidance on workplace behavior, competencies, individual responsibilities, and development of occupational skill sets. Internships will be no more than 960 hours and can be worked part-time or full-time. During training, incumbents are expected to develop and demonstrate progressively increasing skills and independence of action as they gain experience and proficiency in their occupation. One or more specific projects will be undertaken depending upon the candidate’s interests and skill set.

- Input inventory items into Asset Management system.
- Configure/Categorize IT helpdesk tickets.
- Assist in routine IT troubleshooting tasks.
- Imaging computers.
- Work with IT Team to respond to IT Helpdesks tickets.
- Work with IT Staff to implement equipment inventory system.
- Active Directory management.
- Updating employee contact information.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and systems.
- Assist with procedure documentation and knowledge base documentation.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

The Requirements EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE The Intern will be a full-time or part-time student at a college or university, interested in pursuing a career in transportation or Information Technology. Candidates must be in good academic standing (minimum 3.0 overall GPA). Experience using MS Office is highly desirable. Students must submit a cover letter that contains their professional areas of interest, experience and how this internship would be beneficial to their future career. The successful Intern will have exceptional reading, writing, comprehension and editing skills. They will also possess computer, organizational, and communication skills; and a strong desire to learn. No public transportation work experience required. Interns must be available to work at least 10 hours per week during regular business hours of Omnitrans; between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Selection Process - The successful Intern will be currently enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate degree program at a college or university, interested in pursuing a career in Information Technology. Candidates must be in good academic standing (minimum 3.0 overall GPA). Candidates will be screened for relevant qualifying experience that consists of an evaluation of education and experience. The most competitively qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the selection process. The selection process may include a combination of written, performance, and oral examinations. All employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment physical exam, including a drug test, and a criminal background investigation, which will include Live Scan fingerprinting.
