The Special District Group (SDG) is a team in Piper Sandler’s Public Finance practice that is dedicated to raising capital for public infrastructure for new development or redevelopment projects. About This Critical Role – The Job
We are currently looking for a Quantitative Intern to join the SDG team in Denver, Colorado. This position sits on the SDG Quantitative Team, a central resource that provides numerical analysis for SDG bankers, traders, clients, and consultants.
The ideal candidate is passionate about financial modeling; enjoys working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment; possesses the ability to navigate multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines with strong organizational skills; and displays a professional demeanor and appropriacy to interact with senior partners, clients, and colleagues. The accountabilities of this role include:
· Create, develop, improve, and refine financial models that support real estate-based public finance transactions.
· Provide sophisticated, creative, and accurate numerical analysis to investment banking colleagues in a timely manner, often with multiple conflicts or overlapping deadlines. Provide appropriate bond pricing and debt service schedules, financial analysis, and background information at the time of deal identification through transaction close.
· Collaborate with Quantitative Team members to prioritize deadlines, grow knowledge of real estate markets, and develop technical skills.
· Partner with the Banking Team to conduct analysis with a focus on the larger context, including the client’s goals and expectations.
· Research issuer financial information using external and internal resources.
· Conceptualize new methods, approaches, and systems to improve business operations.
· Perform any other duties and special projects as assigned.
· Consistently model SDG’s organizational values and contribute to team culture.
About The Ideal Candidates – You
· You have the following qualifications and experience:
o Graduate degree preferred, or in process with 2025 Graduation Date. Bachelor degrees will also be considered.
o Advanced cash flow modeling and Excel skills required.
o Proficient with digital software and technology, including databases, and MS Office suite. Working knowledge of DBC Finance is a plus.

The anticipated salary for Colorado based individuals expressing interest in this position is $21 per hour or $100,000 annually. Placement within this range is dependent upon education level & years of experience. This position could turn into a full-time opportunity after the completion of a 10 week internship.
