Required Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 10+ years of experience in an employer sponsored insurance business line, in either business development or similar growth-oriented leadership roles.
  • Experience in product implementation and operations.
  • Facility with financial projections and core accounting and actuarial concepts; accounting and actuarial credentials are not required.
  • Intellectual curiosity, a willingness to drill into issues, and demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Project management experience with practice engaging internal and external partners to provide timely implementations.
  • Provide impeccable business partner support, exercise sound judgement, demonstrate financial acumen and communicate rationale for decision-making and/or recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills with the ability to problem solve in real-time.
  • Ability to complete tasks that are under specific deadlines with no exceptions.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Life Insurance company experience and a knowledge of life insurance and annuity products.
  • Experience engaging actuaries, investments front, and back-office employees in the collection of input data and dissemination of results.
  • Familiarity with employer sponsored business regulations, in-plan solutions of various forms, contract management and product operations.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and technical abilities using Excel, Word.
  • Established process management skills and the ability to influence and present to both junior and senior audiences.

Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.

Financial Reporting: Knowledge of processes, methods, and tools of financial reporting; ability to create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports.

Strategic Thinking: Knowledge of the importance of “big picture” thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.

Reporting to the Head of Institutional Markets, the Director of New Ventures will be responsible to evaluate the merits and feasibility of new product solutions, support and guide the product implementation and operations team members on new and existing institutional businesses, maintain awareness and influence on pertinent regulations within the DCIO space, and contribute to the overall strategy of the new Institutional Markets business.  While the primary objective relates to the formulation of new ventures, this role is multi-faceted and is expected to engage and support other team members including inforce management, existing institutional products and enterprise strategy initiative.  Leading by example and coaching junior team members will be required.

Key Job Responsibilities

 

Core Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Identify, shape, feasibility assess and ultimately drive to launch a series of new ventures within the retirement, asset management and wealth management arenas core to Equitable.
  • Guide and assist with the implementation of new solutions and management of existing programs; work closely with the two team members on this team.
  • Maintain awareness of key competitor and regulator events and topics within the DCIO space and wealth management arenas in which we will focus; attend conferences and marketing events as requested.
  • Partner with Institutional Markets colleagues to enhance our understanding of business pro-formas and financials.
  • Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders from various finance, operations, actuarial, business, and investment teams.
  • In Office Work Schedule: This position will be working in office 2-3 days/week in the Charlotte office or remote with approximately 25% travel to the Charlotte office.

The total targeted compensation range for this position is $213,000-$300,000. Total compensation varies based on skills, experience, geographical location and other factors.
