JOB SUMMARY

The Cross-Functional Team Member – Specialty Schools & External Affairs manages plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and supervises the development and implementation of school choice and district-approved magnet schools/programs in accordance with district policies and guidelines thus ensuring that students have access to and information about how to access high-quality educational options.  
 


MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees district school choice programs including the development and implementation of the accountability report and revisions to ensure appeal and relevance. 
  • Provides support and oversight of the department’s operations, including School Choice platform development and processing, stakeholder outreach, relationship management with external parties, employee management, training, system development, communications, and process improvement.  
  • Provides guidance to campus-based school choice personnel. 
  • Reviews, analyzes, and reports on magnet issues and reform measure implications of federal legislation pertaining to magnet schools. Plans, develops, and implements recruitment and marketing plan and campaigns for district magnet schools that include the development, implementation, review and analysis of parent surveys and community interest in thematic educational programs. 
     

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED
  • Establishes and implements district policies, procedures, and accountability guidelines for district magnet schools. 
  • Performs a variety of major special projects, such as fairs and publications, affecting districtwide magnet personnel and community members, including programs and activities. Designs and/or supports magnet curriculum goals, materials, specific methodology, and assessment of student progress at district magnet schools to serve all students represented at a school site. 
  • Oversees research activities, analyze data, and prepare complex financial, statistical, and analytical reports, findings and statements for the district, state, and federal agencies in accordance with funding requirements. 
  • Develop short and long-range plans for increasing efficiency through the use of technology and human resources. 
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned. 
     

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (depending on the specific requirements of the cross-functional team)    
 


WORK EXPERIENCE

3 Years Experience working in cross-functional teams or projects.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

Work Leadership. Regularly provides project management or team leadership to a group of two or more employees but does not have formal supervisory responsibility. Leading and directing typically involves monitoring work and providing guidance on escalated issues. Most of work time is spent performing many of same duties they are leading.    
 


WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT

Work involves the application of moderately complex procedures and tasks that are quite varied. Independent judgment is often required to select and apply the most appropriate of available resources. Ongoing supervision is provided on an “as needed” basis.
 


BUDGET AUTHORITY

No budget development activity is required.

Decisions are made on both routine and non-routine matters with some latitude but are still subject to approval. Job is occasionally expected to recommend new solutions to problems and improve existing methods or generate new ideas.

Decisions have minor, small and possibly incremental impact on the department or facility. Errors are usually discovered in succeeding operations where most of the work is verified or checked and is normally confined to a single department or phase of the organizational activities resulting in brief inconvenience.

Collaborate and solve problems – works with others to resolve problems, clarify or interpret complex information/policies, and provide initial screening/negotiations without approval authority. Interactions are typically with customers, senior level professional staff, and managers.

Takes routine or required customer actions to meet customer needs. Responds promptly and accurately to customer complaints, inquiries and requests for information and coordinates appropriate follow-up. May handle escalated issues passed on from coworkers or subordinates.    
 


WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.
Ability to carry and/or lift less than 15 pounds.
