Overview
The Touchstone investment and product strategy internship provides an introduction to critical elements of the asset management industry, generally, and Touchstone’s business, specifically. During this 8-10 week program, you will engage with, learn about and contribute to Touchstone’s asset manager research, global market strategy, product management and business consulting efforts. Further, as a part of Western & Southern Financial Group, you will be a part of broader internship activities both virtual and on campus which will help develop your skills and network across the enterprise.
Responsibilities
What you will do:
- Participate in preparation and evaluation of a current or prospective manager of a Touchstone mutual fund. Duties may include: gathering current information regarding the sub-advisor and strategy, reviewing the information with assigned analyst, participating in investment committee meetings, examining findings with the broader research team and/or presenting the findings at a staff meeting.
- Depending on travel protocols and schedule, may include travel to sub-advisor offices for participation in on-site due diligence with the assigned analyst. May also participate in meetings of standing committees that are fundamental to the asset management industry such as the derivatives, liquidity, fund actions and pricing/valuation committees.
- Gain experience with widely used investment tools like Bloomberg, Morningstar Direct, Style Analytics and eVestment Analytics.
- Learn about Touchstone’s asset manager evaluation discipline and methods of collecting information like due diligence questionnaires and requests for information.
- Participating in preparation of Touchstone’s quarterly themes and related content, exposure to and/or participation in production of media (e.g., social media, video, podcast and/or website content) and/or conduct of research on a specific theme or event.
- Quarterly fund expense analysis.
- Product Development Subcommittee (PDCS) Meetings examining potential new sub-advisors.
- Preparation and participation in quarterly product management committee (PMC) meetings of all Touchstone functional areas.
- Meetings of the Touchstone Funds’ board of trustees.
- Updates to competitive analysis of Touchstone fund relative to noted competitor funds.
- You will be introduced to Touchstone’s proprietary practice analysis review and three lens fund evaluation and participate in interactions with financial professionals.
- Responsibilities may also include involvement in weekly and quarterly updates to market and fund information used by Touchstone’s sales force.
- Touchstone’s investment & product strategy team regularly conducts special projects to evaluate new tools, services and products to enhance the quality of Touchstone’s solutions and/or the insight provided within Touchstone and externally to Touchstone’s clients. Special projects will vary but will reflective of the areas above.

Qualifications
- Working towards Bachelor’s degree ()
- Completed at least two years of university coursework, including some upper-level finance or business courses. (Preferred)

- Computer skills in MS Word & MS Excel.
- Be a self-starter and able to work independently.
- Be able to prioritize projects and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
Work Setting/Position Demands:
- Works in an office setting and remains in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.
- Requires the ability to verbally communicate and exchange accurate information to customers and associates on a regular basis.
- Requires visual acuity to read and interpret a variety of correspondence, procedures, reports and forms via paper and electronic documents, visual inspection involving small defects; small parts, and/or operation of machinery (including inspection); using measurement devices continuously. Visual acuity is required to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned.
- Requires the ability to prepare written correspondence, reports and forms using prescribed formats and conforming to rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style on a regular basis.
- Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Performs substantial movement of wrists, hands, and fingers for continuous computer work.
- Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects/events.
