Job Description
Direct Patient Care: the RN will provide direct patient care. The RN will assess patient condition, notify providers of patient acuity, carry out provider orders, administer prescribed medications, perform prescribed treatments/procedures, transfer patient when necessary, and discharge patients with appropriate instructions according to Hospital policy; Compliance: The RN will meet the NYS DOH regulations, standards of nursing practice, AOA, OSHA, and other relevant standards. The RN will interpret, implement, and be in compliance with all established procedures/regulations including COBRA, patient rights, DNV, and HIPPA. Documentation will be accurate and timely to meet required clinical standards and support financial accountability. The RN is responsible for obtaining consents/releases related to patient care according to hospital policy and procedures. Recognizes legal responsibilities and functions within the RN scope of practice;Safety: Maintain a clean and hazard free environment while performing safe techniques. Utilize the chain of command accordingly to report concerns regarding safety, staffing, patients, quality, and potential emergent situations. Apply emergency protocols as necessary; Quality: Participates in unit based, quality improvement initiatives. Participates in the measurement and monitoring of key processes to include but not limited to, threats to patient safety, medications, operative procedures, adverse events, restraint usage, and effectiveness of pain management, infection prevention, patient flow issues, customer satisfaction, and readmissions;Professionalism: Compliance with mandated licensure with current registration, health requirements, in-service, regulations, and organizational/department policies. Maintains professional affiliations and enhances professional growth and development by keeping abreast of the latest developments in appropriate area(s) of expertise through seminars, workshops, conferences, continuing education, and orientation programs. Consistent demonstration of courteous, professional behavior with patients, visitors, staff, co-workers, ancillary departments, and the community. Must be responsible, credible, cooperative, tactful, compassionate, and display good judgment;Organizational Standards: RN will meet Standards of Performance and comply with Human Resource policies. The RN must be able to handle multiple priorities, act swiftly in all situations, and apply critical thinking skills. Direct others and /or provide delegation of duties to efficiently manage patient care. Follows established department and organizational policies, procedures, objectives, quality management, ISO 9001 standards, safety, environmental and infection control. Perform other duties as requested.

Minimum or Preferred Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited associate degree (ASN, AND) or diploma in nursing required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing from accredited nursing program preferred. Minimum of 1 year medical surgical nursing experience preferred. Current and unrestricted NY licensure as a Registered Nurse required. BLS required. ACLS preferred, and required within 6 months..
