About the Opportunity
Campus Assistant –
Part-Time Temporary (5 -15 Hrs/Wk)
Northeastern University–Charlotte is seeking an energetic, organized professional for the Campus Assistant position (part-time temporary). The Campus Assistant will be responsible for staffing the front desk in the Welcome Center during the day or assisting with evening and weekend class meetings, study hours, and special events. Primary duties include managing the front desk, greeting guests and students
providing general university information, ensuring instructor’s needs are met to begin class, troubleshooting technology issues, managing room setup for classes, and assisting students with their requests. The Campus Assistant will also be assigned administrative or other projects as needed.
Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred along with 2 years of professional office experience (administrative or customer support), preferably in higher education. The successful candidate will have outstanding customer service and problem-solving skills. Strong organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written, are critical to this role. Must be extremely detail-oriented and able to prioritize work to meet campus and client expectations. Must have the ability to make sound decisions and judgments to best serve clients’ needs and meet campus goals. Proficiency in Word, Excel, and other Microsoft Office Suite necessary, as well as familiarity with using audio/video equipment and other technology.
Hours
8th floor – Front Desk (Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday 4:30 pm – 9:30 pm)
Some weekends
Schedule is dependent on term and campus activities.
Key Responsibilities
Front Desk Coverage
Greet and assist students, faculty, and guests Field questions from student, faculty, and guests, ensuring appropriate resolution Provide technical support and other customer service for students and faculty
Security and Maintenance of Campus
Respond to and document evening maintenance requests Ensure campus areas used are clean and ready to begin the next working day before leaving; inform custodial staff of any special needs Stock supplies in classroom, kitchen/lounge, etc. Assume primary responsibility for the application of the Charlotte campus’ emergency procedures; coordinate with faculty and building security in cases of inclement weather or emergencies Conduct complete check of campus before departure; ensure all equipment and lights are powered down and secure doors
Event Support
Support student services events as needed Assist with student orientations
Other
Special Projects (i.e. website audits, update databases, inventories, web research) Ensure confidentiality of student materials and information Ensure security of student and instructor information, materials, and records
