Cristo Rey Jesuit High School

  • Full Time

Counseling Internship Description
The Cristo Rey Counseling Department is made up of four counselors; three full-time and one part-time.  Every school year, we anticipate having a team of four interns.  Participating in an internship with Cristo Rey Jesuit High School can be an excellent opportunity for graduate students who are pursuing a career in school counseling, clinical counseling, social work, or other closely related field. The internship program is tailored to help graduate students develop and refine important counseling skills, while also encouraging them to apply their academic training in a demanding real-world setting.  On average, our counseling office completes about 400 counseling sessions per month; offering interns the chance to gain plenty of valuable hands-on experience.  There are some structured expectations and goals to meet, but there is also some autonomy in group work, workshop facilitating, and involvement in schoolwide support services.
Students who complete the program will feel more confident as new professionals and have a better understanding of the challenges facing not only adolescents, but the Latinx community as a whole.  This internship also provides an opportunity to become part of a school community and better understand the complexities of providing mental health and support in an educational setting.
