Job Summary:
The Intern will be responsible for supporting the CMBS Opportunities Team with all aspects of the investment and asset management lifecycle. The Intern will primarily focus on asset-level review and underwriting across all property types, due diligence collection and organization, and asset and portfolio management support. The Intern will also interact with market-wide participants during the securitization process and on-going portfolio surveillance.
 
The CMBS Opportunities Team invests in high-yield investment grade and below investment-grade (B-Piece) Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities at both original issuance and on the secondary market. The Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities are backed by fixed-rate, five to ten-year loans on stabilized properties diversified by geography and product type. The CMBS Opportunities Team conducts a detailed underwriting and in-depth analysis of each loan in the CMBS transaction and collaborates with loan sellers to structure loans and CMBS pools with strong credit profiles.
 
Essential Functions:
  • Review loans and properties backing CMBS transactions.
    • Assist in evaluating property cash flows, market trends, property locations, and other relevant factors to assess credit risk.
  • Help maintain the team’s asset management database and assist with on-going portfolio surveillance.
  • Track and organize due diligence materials.
  • Assist in preparing credit committee memos and other supporting materials and analyses.
  • Attend Investment Committee and other periodic portfolio reviews.
  • Support interactions with Legal, Capital Markets, Accounting, and Compliance as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
  • Familiarize yourself with Prime’s business lines and market positioning
    • Review and understand recent investment memorandums to understand Prime’s investment criteria
    • Interact with senior leaders of Prime in lunches and workshops to grow your knowledge of real estate credit markets
    • Participate in intern project presenting overview of Prime, its strategies, and investment departments
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field in progress; preferred graduation date Spring/Summer 2026
  • Interest in real estate, real estate finance, finance
  • Strong business writing skills and ability to concisely compile information into a clear presentation format.
  • A true self-starter capable of accomplishing complicated tasks with limited supervision.
  • Strong work ethic, motivation level, and attention to detail
  • Strong interest in real estate debt and private equity industry
  • Strong quantitative and technical/computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Problem-solving attitude and team player

The expected hourly pay for this role is $25/hour. Actual compensation will be determined by several components, including but not limited to: relevant experience, skills and qualifications, base salary of internal peers, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus and a variety of financial, wellbeing, and health / welfare benefits.
