Position Title: HR Operations Intern
Department:  Business Office, Reports to HR Manager
Job Type: Part-time, 16 hours per week,  Weekday work hours, non-benefit eligible

Position Overview:

We are seeking an organized and proactive HR Operations Intern to assist with administrative tasks and HR functions. In this role, you will provide support for employee records management, compliance, and training while tracking items related to the business office.  Opportunity to work in a supportive team environment with hands-on training and development.

 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Employee Records Management: Maintain and update employee personnel files, ensuring documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant.
  • Recruiting & Onboarding: Assist in coordinating new hire onboarding, communication of onboarding and orientation processes, reference checking, new employee engagement tasks and ensuring completion of all required paperwork and documentation.
  • Benefits Administration: Support the administration of employee benefits programs including assisting HR staff with Open Enrollment changes.
  • Compliance and Training: Assist in tracking and supporting employees’ training needs to meet regulatory compliance, including managing records of certifications and professional development for staff.
  • Tracking Business Office Items: Coordinate and monitor business office tasks ensuring employee compliance with school policies, background checks, and other state or federal requirements.
  • HR Systems: Support the clean up of the HRIS system and ensure accuracy of data in HR systems.
  • General HR and Administrative Support: Provide administrative assistance to the HR team for various projects and initiatives.

 

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field or a student pursuing a degree in HR or Business Administration
  • Skills and experience:
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
    • Good verbal and written communication abilities.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Knowledge of Google Workspace and understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
    • Customer service orientation
    • Familiarity with HR software systems (preferred but not required).
    • Previous HR or administrative experience is a plus

 

Physical Requirements:

  • The physical demands listed below are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:
  • Must be able to work in an office environment.
  • Must be able to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
  • Requires substantial movement (motions) of wrists, hands, and fingers with keyboard use.
  • Ability to use visual display.
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 20 lbs. without assistance.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of post-offer, pre-employment criminal background checks and drug test.
  • Maintain punctual and regular attendance.
  • Work is performed on a smoke-free campus.
