Essential Job Functions

  • Oversees the activities of counseling services and staff, including psychotherapy, outreach, consultation, and preventive mental health activities
  • Maintains a caseload of crisis intervention and individual and group counseling assignments
  • Educates the university community about how to help students in distress
  • Conducts needs assessment research to help identify and address the opportunities to improve counseling services and address additional student needs
  • Prepares and monitors departmental budget
  • Supervises and develops the department staff, facilitating professional opportunities to improve individual capability and managing performance against job accountabilities, department goals and established university, campus and department policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a master’s degree
  • Moderate amount of experience working in college counseling services with diverse population or other related experience
  • Clinical license in North Carolina 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work or a related field of study

Qualified candidates must live or relocate within a daily commuting distance of the Charlotte Campus location upon hire.
