Position Summary:

Serve as Senior Associate Athletics Director (for External Relations) for University of Northern Colorado Department of Athletics. This entails serving as the secondary administrator (to Director of Athletics) for all operations of UNC Athletics including the following: management and leadership skills; involved in hiring of head coaches; strategic planning; event management; direct oversight external units; and public relations responsibilities. Responsible for all revenue generation via special events; corporate sponsorship program; licensing and merchandise; ticket sales – season and individual game; premium seating, NIL support, and other various programs.

 

Job Duties:

10% Communications – Ensure the UNC Athletics Communication unit exceeds the needs of UNC student-athletes, coaches, administrators, University Communications, and local, regional and national media; and other appropriate constituents. This includes an innovative website design, content and management; efficient utilization of electronic mediums; development of positive relationships with local, regional and national media; extensive coverage of all sports programs.

10% Special Events – Ensure the UNC Athletics special events exceeds the needs of UNC student-athletes, coaches, administrators and donors. This includes planning, coordination, special event supervision. Such events include, but not limited to Athletics’ Hall of Fame, The Den Awards, Welcome Back event, Greeley Stampede involvement, and other community events.

30% Corporate Sponsorship Program – Ensure the sponsorship program exceeds the needs of UNC student-athletes, coaches, administrators, fans and corporate partners. This includes the commitment to develop innovative, monetarily beneficial marketing, promotion and/or multi-media right partnerships (including radio and television rights agreements) with UNC Athletics. Likewise, create an inventory list and pricing structure to maximize sponsorship revenue; coordination and implementation of all sold sponsorship programs; increase media trade and other trade agreements to support UNC Athletics’ needs. Oversee Courtesy Car Program.

30% Marketing, Promotions and Sales – ensure all elements of the Marketing, Promotions and Sales unit exceeds the needs of UNC student-athletes, coaches, administrators, fans and business partners. This includes the commitment to develop and execute innovative and efficient marketing plans (including advertising campaigns) for all appropriate sports programs for the purpose of the following: increase season and individual tickets sales for select sports programs; increase attendance for all sports program contests; enhance the student-athlete experience; increase UNC student attendance/participation; and development of exciting/energizing game environment. This includes the execution of an efficient and innovative tickets sales program focused on the following: season ticket sales to individual and corporate customers. Likewise, ensure the execution of an efficient group ticket sales campaign and a UNC community ticket plan.

5% BearVision: BearVision – supervise the BearVision unit that includes videoboards operations and streaming of required sports; provide video content for social media/website; video support for special events.

15% Sport Supervision – This position will oversee multiple staff.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Education:

  • Bachelors Degree; Master’s Degree preferred.

2. Experience:

  • 7+ years minimum in external operations or in another similar field.
  • Experience in a Division I Athletic Department is preferred.
  • Proven success in marketing, communication and/or revenue enhancement.
  • Leadership and management experience is required.

3. Ability:

  • Collaboration: Individual must have the ability to work with on and off campus constituents while building trusting relationships with key people in the campus community.
  • Community Relations: Individual must be an ambassador for Athletics and UNC with the Greeley community, donors, faculty, students, media representatives, alumni, parents, conference representatives and state representatives.
  • Communication: Individual must be able to listen and communicate with multiple types of personalities in a number of different ways in order to be successful.
  • Organization: Must be a person who is prepared, transparent and has the ability to lead coaches, staff and administrators while building a positive, team culture. Individual must be able to handle multiple responsibilities effectively at one time.
  • Experienced External Relations: Individual must have proven success in generating revenue and leading external units preferably in a University or Athletic Department setting.
