Job Purpose

Are you pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Design, or another related field? Are you seeking a part-time position that will allow you to test out your capabilities while learning from some of the best teammates? Join Shook Construction as our Marketing Intern! We are a regional construction firm with more than $400M in sales annually and have a robust Marketing team ready to show you why a career in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) field will prove to be fulfilling and full of exciting marketing opportunities.

This role will be introduced to areas of marketing such as content development and storytelling (i.e., social media posts, external website content, internal newsletters), event planning, and more. A strong background in content development and design is preferred. Additionally, this position will be introduced to proposal development and firm data management and will perform support duties for proposal creation including writing, research, data gathering, execution, and delegation.

Reporting Relationships
  • Position reports to the Director of Marketing & Communications
  • Position indirectly reports to the Vice President of Business Development, as well as all Marketing and Business Development teammates.

Competencies
  • Develop and write content for press releases, social media, advertisements, and other channels
  • Create graphics for social media, company branding
  • Contribute to events including conferences, tradeshows
  • Capture project photography and contribute to video development and editing
  • Organize the preparation of proposals and presentations
  • Write, format, and coordinate production of proposals, presentations
  • Organize and maintain marketing files, resumes, project images, and photography
  • Maintain CRM database (Unanet)
  • Monitor and maintain standards and consistency of company brand and images in all media.
  • Represent the company in specific community and business activities.
  • Complete other duties as required

Education and Experience
  • Preferred pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, design, or a related field, at the Junior or Senior-year level

Language Skills:

Clear verbal and written communication skills.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Special Skills:

Demonstrate knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures of marketing or related field.

Ability and willingness to learn new applications. Demonstrated creative ability. Clear and demonstrated knowledge of graphic design standards, practices, and applications. Success motivated. Willingness to support internal and external customers.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), Adobe InDesign, PhotoShop, Acrobat, and Illustrator.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.  Motor Vehicle report required.

Physical Demands:

Occasionally must stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and climb and balance.  Must be able to talk, hear, taste, and smell and use hands to finger, handle and feel.  Seldom may have to stoop, crouch, or crawl.  May need to occasionally lift up to 10 lbs. The following are the vision requirements for the job: physical, close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
