Position Summary

The Department of Emergency Medicine
(ED) is seeking to hire a Professional Intern – Research Coordinator to support
and coordinate enrollment for clinical research studies under the supervision of professional staff. The profession
intern position is designed to provide training and experience needed to move
into a professional research role. The selected candidate will assist in the
life-cycle of research studies in the Emergency Department and other clinical
areas.

Duties
and Responsibilities:

Subject screening and recruitment, research specimen collection and processing/testing, data entry, and quality assurance
IRB modifications, site investigative file maintenance, and other regulatory duties
Correspondence with principal investigators, sponsors, clinical teams, and departmental staff
Oversite of student employees in research related activities

This position requires applicants to
work in the emergency department and may require scheduling evening and weekend
work hours to meet enrollment demands.

Conditions of Employment
  • Must present transcripts prior to a formal offer being extended.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University’s influenza vaccination requirement.
  • This is a fixed-term position, typically up to 24 months.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree obtained no earlier than 24 months prior to the date of hire; no previous work experience required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Research experience including use of data collection software (REDCap, OpenClinica, etc.)
  • Medical experience or current license (EMT, RN, etc.) or experience working with Protected Health Information (PHI)
  • Experience maintaining and updating clinical study binders
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products including spreadsheets (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Basic understanding of research study design and statistics
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish
