Ombra

Software Engineering Intern - 08/2023 - 01/2024

Full-stack development on an Android for a biometric fingerprint application leveraging ML model inferences. Leverages MediaPipe and OpenCV on Android to detect and segment fingerprints through the on-board camera. Utilizes and optimizes an SQL database to store user-specific information on an Android application. Full-stack development on a Windows application to analyze and store sensitive biometric information. Leverages Open-Source and Commercial ML models to detect, match, and segment sensitive biometric data. Implements software into an RPI4 and chemical testing hardware and SDK to detect harmful ions in water and soil samples. Communicates with internal teams and external stakeholders, working to determine solutions for user optimal experience. Contributed to numerous government contract proposals, including two award-winning proposals totaling $350K in revenue.

CAE USA

R&D Software Development Co-Op Intern - 06/2023 – 08/2023

Engineered Angular and Reacts UIs, facilitating API data interactions. Utilized Docker for containerizing applications and managing data with Docker volumes, leveraging a version of Docker Hub for version control, enhancing application portability, and reducing system costs. Implemented Angular Module Federation in an enterprise application, significantly improving code sharing and reducing JavaScript bundle sizes. This led to independent deployments of micro-frontends and a more scalable architecture, enhancing overall application performance and development workflow. Successfully optimized application performance by shrinking bundle sizes up to 37% through the strategic utilization of front-end optimization tools. This included bundle analyzers for performance diagnostics, implementation of lazy loading to enhance load time, and the creation of custom npm packages for better code modularity and reusability. Developed real-time 3D environments using C++ web sockets and Cesium for enhanced UX. Collaborated with multidisciplinary engineering teams in a SAFe agile framework, contributing to project milestone achievement. Designed intuitive and user-centric UI/UX mockups for production applications using Figma.

Carnegie Mellon University School of Computer Science

HCII Research Intern and Research Paper Author - 05/2022 - 12/2022

Worked with React.JS and conducted user studies at CMU’s Human-Computer Interaction Institute to improve how programmers curate accumulated notes taken while programming in Visual Studio Code. Authored and published a research paper that was presented at CHI 2023.

Duolingo

Software Engineering Thrive Intern - 05/2022 - 08/2022

Developed a full-stack prototype in React and Python that allows users to compete in a game to complete Duolingo lessons as quickly and as accurately as possible. The front end of the prototype was designed and implemented using React, enabling users to select and engage with Duolingo lessons in a competitive, gamified environment. The backend functionality of the prototype in Python, facilitates real-time competition tracking, scoring, and leaderboard management. Assisted in the development of another Android game application that provided an engaging and interactive platform for users to enhance their language skills. Ensured code quality through rigorous testing and incorporated user feedback to continually enhance the features.
